Fashion Essentials: The Gladstone Bag

0

The doctor's bag or Gladstone bag is another fashion essential for Spring/Summer 2012. This fashionable bag is worth all the investment because it's functional and versatile.
Before we dig into details we should be familiar with the history of the Gladstone bag. This bag is popularly known as the doctor's bag. It was created during early 19th century. Professionals like doctors and laywers love to use this bag because it's spacious and handy. This is how it got it's name as a doctor's bag.
The bag features two hinged compartments that could store necessities. It is ideal for lightweight travel because it's not too bulky. You can carry around clothes, tools and more. As it's popularity soared the design of the bag changed as well. Today, the design of the Gladstone bag is tailored to suit the higher fashion standards. Fashion designers trimmed and used high quality materials.
The Gladstone bag is not your average bag. It's a prominent bag that can stands out from the rest of your accessories. Gladstones are usually worn as statement pieces. It should always be worn with confidence as you see with celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Jessica Simpson, Beyonce, Rihanna and more. It is not just a fashion bag but a work bag which makes it usable day or night.
Pair your Gladstone bag with vintage inspired outfits like midi dress, cigarette pants and flowy tops. Choose colors that are classic and versatile. Go for colors that can last through all season. Shades like black, red, navy blue and brown are the most popular choices for Gladstone bags.

Red Red Dress

Yes, back to holiday dresses. Going from muted tones to FIERY RED, and orange and purple...and black.

I fully approve of this dress by Theory. I don't know why, it's rather simple, not totally exciting, and I'm not huge on patterns, but I'm definitely big on this. It's like big brush stroke roses.

Clearly I'm going to like this one, and I'm going to tell you I'm in love with it because it has ruffles. I cannot stop with the ruffles, oh Lela Rose, how beautiful.

My God, and then I found THIS. Roberto Cavalli! Red! Luscious! Passionate! Most Excellent!

Oscar De La Renta - the perfect designer for a night out. I have nothing else to say, the colour just pops, and the amount of detail is just enough for it to be very interesting, but not overly gaudy.

This big rose applique on the side of the dress is awesome. Some skill definitely went into designing it. While it's a bit last season, it's not just sewn on, it's sewn into the dress. Stunning and memorable to say the least.

Just like I can't get away from ruffles, I can't get away from black. The following dress is by Abeate. Wonderful!

The Girl With The Short Hair

Last year I went from that was down below the middle of my back, to a really bad short japanese-boy-rockstar cut. My hair grows fast so while I was mortified & stuck with pinning it back and trying to tie it up in all sorts of ways, with ribbons and clips, it eventually grew back to past my shoulders by September of this year. Being stuck with thick, thick hair I got fed up and went to go get it cut again into a straight across, above the shoulders/longish bob.
Then, I went home and chopped it all off to have it super short in the back, with an A-line cut in the front. Kind of like Victoria Beckham, but less extreme and shorter. How does it feel? Totally awesome. Here are some cuties that might inspire you to cut it short. The best part is that you figure out fun ways to do your hair, it's just easier to take of! Best part? If you can work the curling iron and get a bunch of curls, it's completely adorable. It definitely becomes a deciding factor on how you style your outfits.
What are your thoughts on girls with short hair?
As for my next hair cut? I'm definitely going to go for a Shannyn Sossamon look.

Chin up, walk tall

They're here!

They are mighty tall, and I walked around them for a while thinking that I should probably return them because they're so tall.

Except they're so awesome so I'm not going to return them.

Gul's Style close the show at the Asiana 2011 Bridal Exhibition

Gul's Style closed the show at the Asiana Bridal Show 2011 catwalk, and they had almost everything - partywear/guest outfits, registry-worthy gowns, pastels, reds and lots of colour. I think the only thing missing was menswear!

The finale outfit was of course modelled by Mehreen Syed in this tiara headpiece. This outfit is defintely a bold choice and part of me likes the fact that there is such a mixture of colours, layers and textures, but the other part of me thinks that an ordinary non-model bride might get lost in such an outfit. In terms of the styling, usually I'm all for hair accessories, but I don't like this tiara at all!

My personal favourite from the this vast range of outfits would probably be this maxi dress/gown below. The photos is a bit blurry but I think it has that crazy mix of colours without going over the top like the finale outfit.
